Discount Codes vs. Registration Codes ??
Problem:
What is the difference between discount codes and registration codes? Is there any?Solution:
Yes, these two are completely independent of one another.Registration Codes:
The only reason that you would use a registration code is when you have multiple user groups. When creating or editing a user group you have the option to attach a "registration code" to this user group. If a user enters a matching code when prompted, that person will be registered into that user group. Typically user groups that have registration codes are not the default user group. The user group that you set as default will be the group that a user registers into when they do not enter in a registration code or do not enter one that matches an existing group. The most common reason for separating users into different groups is so that you can charge differently for each group. Each user group can have their own price plans attached. Any user that is in a group will see the price plan(s) that are attached to their group.
Discount Codes:
These codes are specifically designed for use upon checkout. When discount codes have been created a box on the transaction details page of the place an ad process will appear. If a person enters in a code that matches an existing discount code then the total price will be reduced according to the percentage set for that code. For example, if you ran a promotion in a newspaper and offered a code in that ad which gave a person 10% off of their ad cost you could track the success of that promotion by monitoring the ads that exist that were placed using that code.
