    What version are you using? If you can upgrade - I think you should. Otherwise that will be looming over you every time it doesn't work. Or... submit a ticket and ask them about it and your current version.

    If you upgrade, be sure to back up your templates and FTP your site to your hard drive before upgrading.

    OK, upgraded to the latest upgrade. Inserted the same tags and again, works for main page and categories, but not sub categories.

    I have another quick question, if you don't mind please.
    Wouldn't these tags do the same thing?
    {$currentCategoryName}
    {$currentCategoryDescription}

    Ok, I ran another test for you and it works fine. The secret to making this work correctly lies in one of the User Manual's paragraph where it says you HAVE TO PUT THE SUB-CATEGORY 'IF statement' ---- ABOVE the CATEGORY 'IF statement.' In other words, the CATEGORY IF statements trump the SUB-CATEGORY, so make it last within each of your category sections. Hope that makes any sense to anyone interested. If not, read the User's Manual. Looking at it again now, it's dead on and perfectly explained.

    Thanks everyone! I'm just unsure about a couple of things. Can you have, and is there any benefit, to having category specific meta tags AND meta tags within each listing? Or do you have to pick one or the other?

    I've done both (and followed the instructions to the 'T'- twice, just to be sure )but when I go into a listing only the category specific meta tags are used and NOT the meta tags within each listing.

    Thank you in advance for any advice.

    Cheers

    I would think you only want the listing META data in the listing. Sounds like you have something wrong. I'm no SEO expert, but I would take out category META data from listing. Don't imagine Google would use both.

    I would love to jump in this!

    No, it wouldnt matter IMO because your listing will be in a relevant category right?

    The listing title will play a the major role in SEO but there are other places that listing will appear.

    I would have your Top category meta set up though to include the different types of sub cats and listings it potentially might have.

    IMO, I would only set up custom meta for subs that aren't relevant to the Top category. What is the reason for this? I THINK it will be a conversation about the neat little menu links that appear under your main site index but I'll let you know about that soon, but I have a feeling.

    Opinions will fly on this one but I've spent the last week coding the GEO {if} condition method combined with User Friendly URLs, and a few custom file adds for the extra pages and stores list and the results are AMAZING!

    In an hour you can have awesome SEO going on in your Geo script.

    I just changed from a different script that had every detail covered for listings and pages all nice and neat and so far, this script kicks its butt!

    Heck, the mighty Wordpress never had custom SEO features but it is a magic script, and so is Geo in the same regard. The magic is in the coding set up.

    I've been away from Geo for a few years but I am sure glad to be back. The script and coding is awesome!

    Thank you Geo..
