Does anyone know the proper way to implement a google sitemap with the geo software? Is it important? What other thoughts do you have on the subject?

Thanks,

Myerin

We are going to have to come with some kind of package deal for all the add-ons I want...lol

Your add-on sitemap module is just like the Ronco Showtime Rotisseries "set it and forget it," I like that.

I noticed that when google robot crawls the sitemap, it does not like when the .php? url is redirected to a rewritten url. This happens when you use SEO friendly url's.

Is there a way to have the sitemap display only the rewritten SEO friendly URL's instead of the .php? etc url's?

thanks Maik

When google sends the bot it grabs the friendly urls so its not needed. But what I find really nice with the site map is google reports back which keywords and more information is being tapped into. One client of mine has made there own user friendly URLS and didnt use geodesics and when he put the site map in he noticed he has duplicated URL showing up from his.

if the correct keywords are not pulling from the site that google reports back then change the content. So now it gets displayed in the search engines properly

We've used http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ with success and it is quite inexpensive.

Adding canonical url in your html source template will help this:

Also, if you are using a product like http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ you can specify to ignore the index.php? url
