Hello,

As anyone may know Some search engines will de-list your page or lower your page rank if the content of your site is not unique. Especially since the advent of blogs, search engines now are examining how frequently the content on pages is updated and looking for content that appears only on your web site. This doesn’t mean you can’t have static content on your page. For e-commerce sites, the product descriptions may rarely change. But including other elements on the page, like user reviews, testimonials or product updates, will satisfy a crawler’s requirement that content change regularly.

Then why not having a review field on the listings form by which the seller is asked to enter some words as their review/experience with our listing web-site. .... Admin user may turn this field on/off, set the minimum and maximum characters to enter in the description & title field at backend at his discretion.

This way your web-site ranking will increase on a daily basis just because one of the SEO elements which is FRESH & UNIQUE CONTENT is met and determined by search engine crawlers.

On the other side, new users would be encouraged to list their items with you when seeing other guys has satisfactorily listed theirs with you.

Any idea to better cook this?!

Thanks,

otr

Here's a great example of a testimonial module:
http://reviews.homeaway.com/review/list/trips/187723/482822?returnURL=http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p187723

Follow thru on the links : write a review: http://reviews.homeaway.com/review/list/trips/187723/482822?returnURL=http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p187723

This is one thought out module. It allows the administrator to put on hold the testimonials till they are approved and checked. In addition to the My review box, it has a star system, a checkbox for some other details, plus a "my information" email confirmation box, and in this case some extra fields for verification about where i live, date of arrival, name on rental contract.

Now... on this site - the reviews are placed on another page... however you can easily place them on the listing page, or even better.... using a moo tools slide down - You can have your cake and eat it to. Go to the home page: http://www.homeaway.com/ Scroll to the bottom and click on any of the + icon - let's say Top Vacation Destinations: Notice when you click on it... it slides down and reveals text. SEO advantage - text with a heading 3 hidden... BUT if you view page source you'll notice that the html is there whether the moo tools is slid open or not it's ready for the search engine to read and the BEST part - minimum real estate being taken up on your site. This would be perfect for a testimonial situation.
