What do you folks use to track site hits, page views and such? Any good free scripts that can be kept private?

Have you looked at Google Analytics?

No, but I will. Thanks.

Hi,

Your website host should provide you with excellent, detailed site statistics included in the cost of hosting. If you don't know if you have this service, check with your host. If your host does not provide stats that alone would be an excellent reason to switch hosts (in my opinion).

Best of luck.

I've been using Tracewatch for a while now - it's free and it's great

Google Analytics is pretty robust. No matter what else you choose, make sure you setup analytics regardless.

There are loads but Google Analytics is best.

Others like the following are similar and okay:

1. Statcounter. www.statcounter.com

2. AWStats, a great opensource log file analysis software. www.awstats.sourceforge.net

3. RealTracker. www.realtracker.com

I use...

http://awstats.sourceforge.net/
http://www.mrunix.net/webalizer/
http://www.google.com/analytics/

I find I prefer awstats myself. 2 of these should be included with your host though. Call the host support or write them a ticket and ask they will direct you.
