Hello fellow Geodesic users.

I have some important announcements to make. Last 8 months i have spent on preparing and developing tools/design to make one idea to happen. Even in this forum i have seen few messages that call us to start co-operating in order to achieve greater success in terms on marketing, PR and posted ads.

The name of the project is Bosel. Bosel (BŌ-zel) is a network of classified websites separated into local communities. Bosel offers a fun and easy way for people in the same city to trade all manner of goods and services, including cars, housing, jobs, and even personal ads.

Here are some screenshots of the new site:

About the Program
The Bosel Moderator Program is a revenue-sharing program for Bosel that gives back to its local site moderators. A moderator is a person who responds to customer support requests, promotes and represents Bosel locally, and generally evangelizes Bosel for fun and profit.

If accepted as a moderator, you are compensated by sharing in all advertising revenue generated by the local Bosel site. We split everything with you 50-50.

For example, the selected moderator for Chicago will receive 50% of the advertising revenue generated on the site http://chicago.bosel.com. We want you to be successful, and our generous profit-sharing model is a great incentive to help you make the site the best it can be.

By becoming a Bosel moderator, you can interact with customers, earn a nice income, and sharpen your leadership and marketing skills by growing traffic to the local Bosel site.

How the process works - NB! applications not yet accpeted.

1. You fill out a brief application to become the Bosel moderator in your town or city.
2. Bosel officially accepts you into the program.
3. Residency will be confirmed by sending the PIN code by mail to your home address.
4. Enter your PIN code on the site to gain access to moderator console.
5. As a moderator, you have the following tasks: answering customer support requests, actively participating in Bosel promotion activities, and generally representing Bosel in your local community.
6. Advertising revenue is generated on local site via Google AdSense and possibly other affiliate-based programs.
7. 50% of advertising revenue generated on the local site will be paid by Google, Inc. through its AdSense program.
8. All moderators will be required to have an active Google AdSense account, and depending on location, possibly accounts with other affiliate networks (in some countries, Bosel uses other networks besides Google AdSense)

FAQ

Who are Bosel moderators, and what do they do?
A moderator is an individual who earns revenue from the Bosel Moderator Program by responding to customer requests, handling promotions and marketing tasks, and generally representing Bosel in the local community.

Why is Bosel not yet represented in my city or country?
If Bosel isn’t represented in your community, you can apply to be the first moderator for your area. Just fill out the application, and describe to us why you think you can build a community around Bosel in your city.

Who can apply to become a Bosel moderator?
To become a moderator, you must meet the following criteria:
• Be age 21 or over.
• Actually reside in the city or community you wish to moderate.
• Have a strong work ethic, a good sense of fun, and an intense desire to see Bosel take root in your local community.
• We give precedence to individuals who blog, run websites, participate actively in forums, or do some other sort of social networking on the web. You are strongly encouraged to list examples of these activities on your application (please include links).

What sorts of tasks do moderators perform?
Mandatory tasks
• Moderators respond to customer support requests from people inside their community.
• They help localize Bosel content for the local market. This may include translations (if not among the languages handled by the Bosel main office).
• They are responsible for managing the Bosel Community in the local area.

Optional tasks for increasing moderators’ income:
• Handle Bosel marketing and promotion activities in the local market.
• Suggest ideas to improve the site's performance.

How much time is needed to be a successful moderator?
The minimum is 1-3 hours per week. To earn more, promoting Bosel in the local market and actively encouraging participation in the Bosel community (such as recruiting new users) will be highly beneficial.

How much will moderators be paid?
Each moderator earns 50% of all advertising revenue generated in his/her local market. For example, a moderator who lives in Dallas earns 50% of all revenue generated on local site http://dallas.bosel.com. Incomes can vary and depends on the local site traffic. Moderators can earn $1, $50, $1000 or even more per month. It all depends on how much work is invested into promotion and community building by the moderator. Read more how Google AdSense works here

Can I link my current google AdSense account with bosel moderator program?
Yes. As a moderator, you do not need to create a new AdSense account in order to join the Bosel Moderator Program. But if you choose to create a new Google AdSense account, you can do so on the Bosel site.

How do I track my income and success?
Moderators can easily track all details about earnings, traffic numbers and other metrics directly from the Bosel Moderator console.

What kind of support do you offer moderators?
Moderators are given access to the moderators' private forum, support phone number (skype), and support e-mail. At least once a year, moderator meetings are held in each country.

Some quick initial questions:
1. Are you using Geodesic software?

At the moment yes. But there are plans to re-write it to scale better.

2. How is a moderator guaranteed that they will not be replaced after they do all their hard work building the local site up?

Moderator will be replaced on only 2 occasions.

* If moderator moves to another state/country and is not "local" anymore. In most cases moderator will be also spokesperson to the local media and it is needed that the moderator represents its local community from same location.

* If moderator does not respond to customer requests and/or gets too many complaints from local community.

All replacements are dicussed in moderators forums in order to qurantee fairness. Everything will be written in detail in Moderator Agreement (not ready yet).

What kind of quarantees for example you carstone would like to see?

It was just an instantaneous thought. A person wouldn't want to put all their time into this if the "parent company" decided to bring it all back in house at a later time, once the site is going strong. I can see that your model would be more advantageous to keep a local person working strong, so this probably is unlikely. (However, Craigs List and Ebay are not locally staffed and seem to be making a little profit  )

OK, back to the real world! I have none live, I am still setting everything up. My project has grown much bigger than originally planned, once I saw everything I could do with the software.
