I found a website, signed up and received a referal link to earn a bonus account.
The link looked like the one below.
- How can this be done using premier classifieds?
How does it work, how do you know who referred who?

There isn't really anything built into the scripts. Unfortunately.
I think it would be great if there was.
You could utilize an affiliate program as a way to drive and track, however that will require users to register for the affiliate program in addition.
I have added an extra registration field to capture the username for referrals, but no idea how many people will pass that along. Unfortunately, there's also not anything built into the system to do anything with it, such as rewared members with a credit per X signups.
There is a bigger picture, such as rewarding members for a number of actions, perhaps a free ad for X ads placed, or monetary credits in their account, or rewarding for $X spent. Right now, the only way to do anything with this would be to capture the data, export it, and do something with it... quite a few hoops to jump through to get to that point.
This type of a built in system would also provide another great benefit... if you provide free ads for registering, but also provided even greater rewards for use over time, there would be less incentive for users to just create a new account and would instead build up value in the account they have.

Identity, I completely agree, cannot believe this was not figured into the software...
If you find anything that will work let me know... I'll do the same.
We did this with webit.net.
If the user submits through a form a prospects email address they (the prospect) gets sent an email. If they sign up through a link in the email both the prospect and the origional member get a boost to their listing placement.
I wrote this in Java (Not Javascript!!! BTW) as webit.net is a J2EE site, not PHP.
Writing in PHP wouldn't be too hard though.

How could one get this done in PHP?
What would it take, let me know, I would really like to use this code or a code that does the same thing with my premier version
