The reason you are not getting any replies is that your question is too general. It like asking how does a computer work?

You need to use focused meta tags to bring in qualified traffic. You need to get your website on as many QUALITY websites as you can; make sure those links relate to your site or you will hurt your search engine ranking. You need to have lots of information on your site; search engines love information. You need to do regular advertising in newspapers, magazines, radio, TV... whatever. Cold calling.

There are a thousand things you can do. But no matter what you do, you need to have patience. The days of throwing up a website and making millions is long past. It will take time and hard work.

Thank you for your considerate reply.

I am using Google AdWords, but it's not productive for me.

Thank you again.

I have tried many different ways of advert. I used google adwords and I got over 1.6 million immpressions in a single month but only 700 click and most did not turn into customers which cost me around $400 bucks. I am working on a new advert site called www.adbrite.com which I have not used too much but here it works pretty well. google adsense did no good, keywords in order, meta tags on site. As many search engines as possible but time is what it really takes. A year to 2 years is what it will take to get noticed and that is what really will work time.

I've been using Google Adwords for about a year now for http://www.hificlassifieds.com. It took about 9 months before I saw any dramatic increase in traffic from this, but it is starting to pay off. Setting up your campaign and keywords properly is the key, and constant monitoring and tweaking of your Adwords campaign is a must. I get reports every Monday from Adwords that help me gague the performance. Also, developing a good backlink campaign is a key factor for increasing your organic listings with Google.

I started using yahoo marketing and have had quite a bit of sucess. I only do this as a hobby so I didn't want to spend a lot of money. Using sponsored search I spend $30 a month and pick up about 200 users. I only charge for featured ads and better placement, which pays for my advertising. The strange part is that when I quit using sponsored search my visitor volume actually went Up! Figure that one out.

Well, here I go again, but you did ask...

I promote heavily and successfully by writing articles related to my site's content. For example, if your classified ads are selling boats write an article on how to sell a boat, how to buy a used boat, etc. Optimize the articles for the search engines, post them to your site as static html pages, and wait for the articles to get found by search engines. When the traffic comes in on the articles make sure they see obvious links to your classifieds ("Selling a boat? Use our classieds!").

Writing articles, for me, has been a slow, steady upward climb.

Good luck.

Hi springsads and Festus,

Thank you for sharing your valuable experience.

- Would you let me know your site's URL? I just would like to take a look.
- Have you used Google's Adwords and Yahoo's Sponsored Search? If you did, which one is better?
- Do you advertize locally?
- Please let me know any other consideration if you could.

Thanks,

ZeeZone

Hi,

My url is www.cowboyway.com (http://www.cowboyway.com). I don't do any paid advertising. I have in the past but had poor luck with it. I'm convinced you can advertise successfully but I don't know how.
